Tips Left by Diners’ No Longer Allowed to Top up Workers’ Pay to Minimum Wage
Tips that are left in bars and restaurants no longer count towards workers’ wages. Changes which came into effect October 1st come alongside increase in minimum wage. This new rule makes it illegal for businesses to use gratuities to top up staff pay to the minimum wage. Closing this tips loophole has the support of business groups as well as trade unions.
